Our Founder
Cecilia Navas, Christian, and Venezuelan political exile. She holds a degree in International Trade. Cecilia is a founder of the Youth and Democracy in the Americas, a non-profit organization established in Miami, Florida in 2018 with the mission to educate and empower student leaders with the opportunity to expose their challenges, issues, and public policy goals of their nations to diplomats, politicians, and government officials, and promote the rule of law. Cecilia has been involved in politics since her early years. She is a former Deputy State Director for VAMOS in North Carolina for the National Republican Senatorial Committee where she did great outreach and Hispanic voter contact efforts for the Senatorial race for Ted Budd's campaign through NRSC. She is also a Member of Leadership Institute Campaign Leadership College (CLC) Alumni since March 2023.
Cecilia as an international student, served as Student Government Association President at the Florida National University. She has prior experience working in the field of advocacy, civil rights, and public policy. She created the annual continental student Summit for Youth and Democracy in the Americas at the U.S Congress and at the Organization of American States, with the support of Sen. Marco Rubio’s office and the Secretary General of the OAS. She did a regional outreach and mobilized more than 650 students and young leaders from 22 countries for the strengthening of the democracies of the region during these past five years. She recently received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition at the United States Congress, from Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, in recognition for outstanding and invaluable service to the community. She has also served as volunteer for many campaigns, (presidential, congressional, and senate). She has demonstrated a strong experience in grassroots movements. She has a strong relationship with high-ranking politicians and diplomats in the Western Hemispheric through her advocacy in public affairs.
Last year, she spoke on Health and Resilience of South America in the Hemispheric Dialogue towards the IX Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles. She's organized numerous student forums at the Florida International University, and other universities, explaining how socialism destroyed her homeland and has been advocating for freedom by sharing her story with youth across the region.
Cecilia is a leading advocate for young voices in the defense of the rule of law and freedom across the Americas.
